在 2001年IMATRA纸浆厂项目中应用大约 200台VACON变频器

VACONS IN PULP BUSINESS IS NO PULP FICTION
Nearly 200 Vacon frequency converters in the Imatra Pulp 2001 project
In the biggest project within wood processing industry in Finland at the moment, Imatra Pulp 2001, a new pulp production line will be built at the Imatra pulp mill in Kaukopää in the south east of Finland. Vacon will deliver nearly 200 frequency converters for various applications to this mill, which is a subsidiary of Stora Enso Plc, the largest manufacturer of paper and board in the world. This massive project, which consists of several subprojects and altogether involves some 150 contractors, was started in 1999 and will be completed in 2002.
The Imatra Pulp 2001 project was started in order to modernise and expand the wood debarking and chipping processes, to build a new fibre line 3, to modernise the fibre line 2, to carry out alteration work at the power station plant, to build a new pulp drying line and to reform the pulp producing line in Tainionkoski. The new production line will produce 500 000 tons birch pulp a year. The design capacity of the pulp drying line is 1000 tons of chemical pulp a day. The total annual wood handling capacity is 3.5 million cubic meters of wood. This will make the mill self-sufficient in pulp needed for their paper and board production. It will also create good conditions for the future development of the mill and for increased board production. The new fiber line is scheduled to start up in early April 2001 and the wood handling system for the existing fiber line in October 2002. The budget of the complete project is EUR 365 million.

All the main process equipment is controlled by Vacon frequency converters: pumps, fans, conveyors, debarking drum, chipper and the screw unloader. The power range of the vacons in this project is 0.75 kW CX4 - 710 kW CX6.

Although the pulp and paper industry is booming at the moment, it has faced many changes unfavourable to profitability during the past years: requirements from the customers have increased, but the orders have reduced.
